From the desire to make a great classic method entirely from the Marche region, the Madreperla was born which, since the 2015 vintage, is the result of the best selection of Verdicchio grapes only. The second fermentation of the base wine takes place only with the natural sugars of the grapes, after which the wine remains in the bottle on its lees for at least 4 years. A particular expedition liqueur is added to the disgorgement, a blend made with different vintages of Verdicchio Riserva and our Verdicchio brandy.
Extremely pleasant and ready to be enjoyed just a few weeks after disgorgement, Madreperla will be able to further mature in the bottle and give great satisfaction over time.
Vineyard location: in the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi area. Age: 8–35 years.
Soil: of alluvial marine sedimentary origin, with a prevalence of clay and sand.
Exposure and altitude: 400 m.
Cultivation system: overturned and double guyot.
Plant density: 1700-3500 plants per hectare. Yield per hectare: 90 q. of grapes.
Hand harvesting of the grapes with subsequent soft pressing of the whole bunches previously cooled.
Vinification: low temperature fermentation for a few months. Bottling in spring with very slow second fermentation, without adding sucrose but with natural grape sugars. The wine remains in contact with its yeasts for at least 4 years.
Liqueur d'expedition: key to the style and taste of the cuvée, it is composed of a blend that includes various vintages of Verdicchio Riserva Vigna Novali and Verdicchio wine brandy aged for at least 10 years in old barriques.
Aging: in the bottle after disgorgement.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow color with coppery reflections, fine and persistent perlage.
Hint of bread crust.
Full and persistent taste, with great balance in all its components.
Pairings: Its elegant and soft structure and its convincing sapidity suggest to grant it to important maritime dishes, both traditional and modern cuisine. Try it throughout the meal.
Heart and memory of the territory. Moncaro has always been characterized by the strong local roots of the Marche Region and its environment. He feels expression of the culture of the Marches and it is the heart.
