Bio from birth, biodynamic by passion, artisans by nature.
Pievalta is a young and modern winery in the Castelli di Jesi area, which has become, within a few years, a virtuous model of biodynamic viticulture in the Marche region.
Alessandro Fenino, an oenologist with some harvests behind him in Barone Pizzini, is entrusted with the direction of the project, flanked by the agronomist Pierluigi Donna and the oenologist Sergio Paolucci.
He immediately manages the vineyards in an organic regime and in 2005 naturally arrives at biodynamics, with the desire to encourage the expressive harmony of the place, leaving it free to express itself without tricks and interventions: "biodynamic viticulture means bringing life into the vineyard by helping it to reactivate the forces that put it in relation with heaven and earth ”.
Pievalta thus became, in 2008, the first certified biodynamic company in the Marche region.
Over time, Alessandro has shaped the winery according to his own sensitivity and with Silvia Loschi he follows this important project with passion, with the aim of enhancing and expressing one of the most important indigenous grape varieties in Italy: Verdicchio.
"We do not transform grapes into wine, but we accompany them in their becoming, always a step back and without tricks so as not to break the harmony of the place with our intervention but, on the contrary, to let it be expressed freely before the gaze of those who cross these hills and then to the taste of those who sip it in the glass "
The Pievalta vineyards extend for 21.5 hectares in Maiolati Spontini and for 5 hectares in San Paolo di Jesi, one of the most suitable terroirs of the Castles of Jesi.
The management of the vineyards provides for the nourishment of the plants through green manure of legumes, embankments, manure horn and biodynamic preparations, short pruning and very low quantities of mine sulfur. No adjuvants of vegetable origin are used in the production process and the wines produced also have the certification of vegan vegetarian quality.
These are expressive, clean, dynamic and territorial wines: the biodynamic expression of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
