“After approximately 60 months of refinement, Historical is revealed, Umani Ronchi's tribute to Verdicchio, the noble fruit of a unique land; dedicated to Time, with its silences and its precious responses." Michele and Massimo Bernetti
Historical is a project that starts from the land and its profound knowledge, exactly from a small isolated parcel among the historic vineyards of Montecarotto, in the Verdicchio Classico
Historical is the story of a research and an objective and, as with all great stories, the genesis was long and complex. A wine destined to refine for over 5 years before revealing itself, with the romantic and concrete goal of enrolling among the great Italian and global excellences of non-aromatic white grape wines.
Vecchie Vigne Historical is located next to Campo San Giorgio Conero Riserva, with which it shares an elective affinity in terms of image, ambition and positioning. Both labels are designed by the artist Ileana Colazzilli whose talented hand can be recognized on some Umani Ronchi bottles.
Contains sulfites
The vineyards, over fifty years old, are located approximately 310 meters above sea level, on a hill facing east, in the highest part of the portion dedicated to our Vecchie Vigne. Here Verdicchio finds particularly favorable soil, very deep, clayey and fresh.
Double inverted cultivation system - Yield per hectare approximately 60 quintals
Harvest: The grapes are harvested by hand, with great attention to keeping the berries perfectly intact. It usually takes place between the end of September and the first ten days of October, when the fruits have reached optimal ripeness.
Vinification: After soft pressing, the free-run must is suddenly cooled and then statically decanted. The fermentation, in steel tanks at a temperature ranging from 16 to 18°C, lasts for 15-20 days. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation.
Aging: 18 months in concrete tanks, during which the wine remains in continuous contact with its yeasts. This is followed by decanting into small steel tanks with the wine racking for natural sedimentation. The wine rests here for approximately 36 months until bottling, which takes place at least 6 months before release.
Tasting
Beautiful straw yellow color with bright pale green reflections.
Olfactorily it reveals itself to be multifaceted and continuously dynamic, swaying between fresh citrus notes, candle wax and floral nuances.
Enveloping and rhythmic, with a marked salty salinity and an out of the ordinary energy.
Pairing: Roasted white meat, roasted fish, stuffed pasta.
Glass: Medium-sized glass.
From the roots of the past we cultivate the vine of the future.
A story of lives, vines, lands and values. Of seasons that are renewed, of harvests that each year give different and unique fruits, of wines that are born and travel to land on tables all over the world.
