The estate was born with the desire to revive Vernaccia Nera, an ancient and precious grape variety, which has always been cultivated in this narrow strip of land. The Graidi family, now in its fourth generation, aims for the highest quality but respecting tradition. A recovery project that starts from the vineyards to the rediscovery of traditions and the bond with our people, for a deeper awareness of the unique richness of our territory.
Hence the need for a more authentic vinification than the more widespread sparkling DOCG version. In fact, originally, as evidenced by the Yearbook for Viticulture and Enology of 1893, Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona produced one of the most popular "still" wines of the Marches. A desire that translates into oenological research, in the in-depth study of the vines and the ancient processing techniques of these grapes. A challenge that later became a choice, that of leaving this exceptional grape variety the possibility of expressing all its qualitative potential in the best possible way.
The discovery of something unexpectedly pleasant: this is the Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona grape.
A variety of good vigor with medium-large leaves, winged and tight bunches, small black-purplish berries, medium skin and soft pulp with a slightly aromatic flavor.
A vine which, thanks to its particular microclimate, develops exceptional organoleptic characteristics.
The intent of Terre di Serrapetrona is to protect and preserve this vine over time, to disseminate its history and traditions.
With the desire to enclose in every bottle the proud and fascinating hardness of the landscapes smoothed by millions of windy, rainy, freezing and hot days that have broken up the rocks to form the steep slopes on which we have planted our vineyards, which fight every day against gravity by sinking its roots into cream-colored soils.
We help them to resist, maintaining a natural turf to avoid the erosion of that ancient, precious and living asset that is the soil of our vineyards.
Terre di Serrapetrona is located in the heart of the Marche region, from where you can easily reach important cities of art, historic villages, parks, abbeys, hermitages and castles.
Serrapetrona is the first town to have saved works of art from the earthquake and the first to exhibit them to the public in a reconstructed medieval church. There are the works of the masters of the Camerte art.
Serrapetrona also has a bizarre museum with many curiosities that we let you discover. It is an area rich in gastronomic and pork-butchery specialties.
The slopes are steep, dug and steep, facing south, south-east.
The climate is foothills with strong temperature variations between night and day.
The proximity of the Adriatic creates a continuous thermal wind between land and sea or vice versa. The soil is marly-calcareous with fine white clay, rich in stony skeleton.
