Good traditions have deep roots

From the care of the ancient vineyards of the Estate and from the wise
cellar work the sensations of our wines are born.

Good traditions have deep roots
Tenuta Piano di Rustano

The Lebboroni family already owned a farm in Cignanello, a locality in the municipality of Camerino, at the end of the 1800s. first rented some land and then dedicating himself to the management as administrators of various farms in the area.

In the same 1920s the Lebboroni family expanded its properties by purchasing a farm in Piano di Rustano from the Barboni lords.

Respect for the products and the territory give value to our work.

All the processes are therefore carried out strictly by hand, from the collection of pruned branches to the copper and sulfur treatments, from the cutting of the grass to the harvest, this carried out with the help of "carriers", workers who carry the grapes by hand up to at the top of the rows where it is then loaded by the tractor.

All processes are controlled and each bottle is traced via a QR Code which allows you to view the characteristics of the wine.

The recovery of Borgo di Rustano was, and is, an opportunity for Francesco Lebboroni, an environmental engineer, to experiment with his eco-sustainable approach, designing and implementing good practices aimed at minimizing the impact of production and activities in the cellar on the territory and on the surrounding environment.
Perched on the hills of Rustano, at the foot of Mount Primo, the new Cellar of the Piano di Rustano farm crowns an entrepreneurial journey which, starting from the enhancement of the "ancient" vineyards of the Lebboroni family, has focused on respect for nature and its cycles to give authenticity and recognition to a product – Verdicchio di Matelica – typical of this area, where once there was the sea.

A wine produced in the hills but which is affected by the influence of the sea, considering that, in the prehistoric era, the sea reached up here, for this reason it has a particular sapidity that makes it unique and recognizable.

The Piano di Rustano estate is located in the high lands of Macerata, in a hilly area where the cold climate of the Apennines that cross central Italy is partly mitigated by the proximity of the Adriatic Sea. The strong temperature variations between day and night, characteristic at an altitude of 400 m. above sea level, affect the biological activity of the vine and consequently the quality of the wines produced.

It is worth telling the story of the oldest vineyard on the estate, about 70 years old and made with an ancient variety of Malvasia. It is located on the top of a hill in an airy and sunny position on sandy and particularly permeable soil, these are ideal conditions for the Malvasia vine that have made such a longevity possible. Composed of rows 1.65 m apart, it is not possible to enter it with tractors.
