Since 1837 winemakers in the Conero

The territory is unique, the fascinating landscapes.
But it is the people who with their passion and commitment make every corner to visit, every product to taste special. The winemaker creates a unique bond with the land and gives his mark to each wine.

Since 1837 winemakers in the Conero
Moroder

The birth of the agricultural complex dates back to the mid-18th century, when the Moroders, originally from Val Gardena, moved to Ancona and bought the land on which the company stands today. The founding year of the winery dates back to 1837: the company continues to pass from generation to generation until, in the early 80s, Alessandro Moroder and his wife Serenella decide to devote themselves with passion and commitment to the wine business, giving it a new attention and relevance.

A convinced choice that leads in a few years to a profound renewal of processes and management. The rural complex is recovered and embellished with a new functional distribution. The agricultural sector is concentrated in the production of wine and the vision aims to "bring the cellar to be a point of reference in the Marche wine scene, making Rosso Conero a product of excellence capable of respecting and enhancing the territory". The first recognitions are immediate, so much so that the most prestigious Conero Riserva, the Dorico, is the first wine from the Marche region to obtain 3 glasses of Gambero Rosso with the '88 harvest.

Today, the new generational graft pursues and strengthens the corporate philosophy. The company is perfectly inserted in the territory, respectful of tradition but at the same time attentive to the new needs of consumers.

The beating heart is the cellar

This is obtained from the eighteenth-century volume and currently, following a respectful restoration, houses the spaces intended for winemaking on the ground floor. The large French and Slavonian oak barrels are located in what was once the company's old stable.

From this one descends into the ancient vaulted cave, partially excavated in the underlying clays: initially it was a neviera, where the snow pressed with straw created a room suitable for storing food. Today, thanks to ideal conditions of temperature and humidity, the room is intended to house the small barrels for the refinement and maturation of the wine.

With the progressive increase of the vineyard extension, the need to expand the cellar finally arose. The new structure develops entirely underground: its architecture is designed to obtain the right thermo-hygrometric balance.

Here several rooms are divided: from the rooms reserved for the production and storage of wine, to the tasting room and the barrel cellar. Intended for the refinement and maturation of reserves, it is characterized by the particular terracotta vaulted ceiling and oak walls.

The people, the vineyards

  • The territory is unique, the landscapes fascinating, but it is the people who, with their passion and commitment, make every corner to visit and every product to be tasted special.
  • The winemaker creates a unique bond with the land and leaves his mark on each wine; his collaborators transfer the value of their skills to the countryside and to the cellar; the reception staff convey the passion contained in every bottle, in every dish, in every gesture.
  • The vineyards of the estate stretch sinuously along the hills surrounding Monte Conero.
The sea breeze coming from the sea, a rich calcareous soil, altitudes between 180 and 230 metres, mainly south and south-east exposure: these are the elements that make up our terroir and make the wines produced here unique.
  • Montepulciano is the grape used alone to produce Rosso Conero and, with an area of about 22 hectares, it represents the most cultivated vine: it boasts among its rows of vines up to 70 years of age.
The remaining vineyard area, aged between 15 and 25 years, includes several other varieties, among which the "local" Malvasia di Candia, Verdicchio and Moscato or the "international" Merlot and Sirah stand out.

The Estate Inside the Conero Natural Park, the agricultural complex of the company covers an area of 62 hectares, 38 of which are dedicated to the cultivation of grapes.
The land and the crops that grow there exploit the peculiarities of the Conero Riviera, being located only one thousand two hundred meters away from the sea. The present microclimate has always allowed low environmental impact agriculture, to then switch to a certified organic regime starting in 2010.
At the center of the estate develops the architectural complex of absolute authenticity that houses both the rooms intended for winemaking and those reserved for hospitality.
Mount Conero, the only prominent promontory on the stretch of Adriatic coast that goes from Trieste to the Gargano, represents the heart of the regional park of the same name. The Conero Natural Park, established in 1987 to protect the richness of these lands, includes a stretch of high coast and a large internal hilly strip characterized by unique landscape features.
The territory, suspended between the greenery of the rich Mediterranean maquis and the intense blue of the Adriatic Sea, offers numerous points of interest both for the flora and fauna, and for the pleasant stops on its enchanting beaches. Finally, there is no shortage of important architecture and places of value: the church of S. Maria di Portonovo, the underground paths of Camerano or the historic centers of Ancona, Sirolo and Numana are unmissable destinations for the visitor.
