Lacrima, so called from the characteristic drop that tears from the bunch when the grape has reached its full ripeness, was a grape variety known from ancient times. Fonte del Re is a toponym chosen by the UMANI RONCHI winery which indicates the place where an ancient spring flowed near Morro d'Alba, the town in the Marche hills which since 1985 also gives its name to the Doc.
First year of production 1997
Production area: saved from extinction, it is currently cultivated in a very small production area around Morro d'Alba (AN), about 15 km from the Adriatic Sea
The vineyards, located 150-200 meters above sea level, are planted on very deep clayey soils, with south-east / south-west exposure. The yields are between 90 and 100 quintals per hectare
The harvest is done by hand in the period that normally runs from mid to late September
Grape vinification , de-stemmed and lightly pressed, is made to carry out a maceration of maximum 10 days, in steel fermenters, at a temperature maintained around 24 ° C, in order to preserve the fruity notes of the must to the maximum. As soon as the alcoholic fermentation is over, the wine also carries out the malolactic one, and then moves on to the phase of aging in steel for about 4 months. A short stay in the bottle completes the refinement of the wine
Winemaker's Notes
It has an intense ruby red color with evident violet hues
On the nose there is a delicate and characteristic intense vinous aroma, of roses, violets and undergrowth, aromatic
Dry and warm flavor, with evident but not sharp and pungent tannins. Soft and quite round, it is also endowed with good body and persistence
Pairings Traditionally it goes well with typical local cold cuts such as Fabriano larded meat or ciavuscolo, first courses based on red sauce and meat sauce, and second courses based on white meats. It can also be paired with starters of marinated or marinated blue fish with the same wine and with some types of seafood broth. Also excellent with semi-hard cheeses
Serving glass, medium-sized goblet with spherical tendency, to allow a good oxygenation of the wine and a perfect release of aromas
From the roots of the past we cultivate the vine of the future.
A story of lives, vines, lands and values. Of seasons that are renewed, of harvests that each year give different and unique fruits, of wines that are born and travel to land on tables all over the world.
