One of the most representative interpretations of Matelica's verdicchio.

Wines of great structure and complexity, well suited to aging, but above all, an unmistakable and inimitable expression of their territory of origin.

The La Monacesca winery owes its name to a small group of Farfa monks who, in the 10th century, to escape the barbarian invasions in Northern Italy, took refuge in this valley, building a small church and a convent which today, well restored. , are part of the company village.

In 1966 Casimiro Cifola took over this farm and started planting vines: especially Verdicchio.

In 1973, the first Verdicchio under the La Monacesca brand was placed on the market and immediately enjoyed great success. Aldo, son of Casimiro, supports his father in running the winery in 1982 and begins the planting of other vines such as Sangiovese, Merlot and Chardonnay.

Today Aldo is a hotbed of new ideas and innovations, carrying on the family business with passion and vivacity.

Recognition of the DOC in 1967

First in the Marche and fourteenth in Italy and continues in this path of absolute premier with the recognition in 2010 of the DOCG in the Reserve version, reaching a unique milestone in the national wine scene.

Unique wines, with aromas and flavors of other times, which knew how to tell the magic of a land rich in history and tradition. The ancient expression of Matelica shines with vivacity and great dynamism in the glass, on the nose and on the palate, giving unique and satisfying sensations.

The main goal is always to get to express in the glass the uniqueness of what are the best Marche lands when it comes to wine.

Compared to the origins, what has not changed is the artisan and almost maniacal care with which wine is produced, which has always remained the same.

From "Terra di Mezzo" to "Mirum", from "Ecclesia" to "Camerte", those labeled "La Monacesca" are labels where the history, culture and tradition of a great terroir meet.

Autoctonia and territoriality

Nowadays they represent essential prerogatives for the success of a wine, to the point that it is sometimes difficult to understand how much marketing replaces mother nature in the event that these characteristics are clearly difficult to express.

We are lucky enough not to have to face this problem, having the opportunity to use the decisive support for our productions of an absolutely unique microclimatic and pedological complex such as that of the Upper Esino Valley.

The La Monacesca farm is located in the municipality of Matelica, in an almost hidden land, and perhaps this embellishes it even more together with the fact that it is the only (large) valley arranged North-South.
