Marotti Campi

100% familiar

In the mid-19th century the Marotti family bought the property in the Sant’Amico di Morro d’Alba district and built the villa there as the center of the sharecropping company.

At the time, the main crop was wheat along with other arable crops, but over the years and with the generational changes, following the vocation of this land, a predominantly viticultural approach has been taken.

In 1991 Giovanni Marotti Campi began a vineyard modernization project by rationalizing production and concentrating it on the two most representative and typical vines of the area, Verdicchio and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba.

His passion for this land and for the family property led him to build the modern winery in 1999 and together with his wife Francesca and his son Lorenzo decided to bring new life and new energy to this place.

Of the 120 hectares owned, currently 53 are planted with vines. The location is hilly, around 180 meters above sea level. The soils are of medium texture with a good presence of clay.

The vineyards, divided into three main plots near the Villa, enjoy different exposures, from South to North, from East to West. The surface is divided between Lacrima and Verdicchio, with plants that are 35 to 10 years old.

In 1999 we then planted a few hectares of other varieties including Montepulciano, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, which we vinify for our red I.G.T.
As a training system we mainly use Guyot.
We practice agriculture with a low environmental impact, we do not use water for irrigation, we limit the treatments to what is strictly necessary to ensure a balance of the plant and the soil and we choose low-dose and low-impact products.

The wines

The result of this philosophy gives life to about 220,000 bottles, divided into ten labels: among these stand out the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC "Orgiolo", the Marche Rosso IGT "Donderé" and the very famous Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, declined in classic version, superior and reserve, with the "Salmariano".

Elegant and refined bottles, which every year enjoy the success of national critics, as evidenced by the prestigious awards assigned by Bibenda and Gambero Rosso: the future of Marotti Campi looks very bright and full of great satisfactions.

On this earth

Poets and travelers tell of the Marche and its calm, gentle and widespread beauty, of its landscape in which ancient hilltop villages and cultivated fields are harmoniously integrated in a succession of hills that go from the mountains to the sea, the true Italian countryside.

Morro d’Alba is one of the castles of Jesi built around 1000 as a military outpost famous for its walkway called La Scarpa. On these gentle hills framed by the Apennines and the nearby Adriatic Sea, the Sant’Amico district was already a settlement in Roman times, on the road that connects Jesi to the coastal city of Senigallia.

They are fertile and generous lands, always suited to agriculture, at the center of the two D.O.C. that best express the unique link between the vine, the territory, its people and history: the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico and the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba DOC.
