very current words today, are the philosophy of Be-ars.
Beatrice in her workshop creates unique furnishings, exclusively by hand in recovered and recycled material,
completely Made in Italy, in the name of eco-sustainability.
Be-ars (from bea + ars = craftsmanship) was born in 2013 with the intention of giving a second chance to "waste", especially leather from shoe factories and leather goods.
Beatrice studied design at the University of Florence because she has always dreamed of designing and producing what she needs. You have chosen to reuse industrial waste from shoe factories: you live in a shoe district and your grandfather owned a shoe factory. You therefore know the amount of material that ends up in landfills. Still quality material but not recyclable.
The love for the environment and for the territory led me to design and produce objects using secondary raw materials, however of high quality but not recyclable.
There is no claim to solving the waste problem, but the intention of trying to give it a different and alternative destination to landfill.
In my laboratory I try to combine the tradition of craftsmanship, typical of Made in Italy, with technological innovation, innovative design vision and the philosophy of reuse and sustainability. So leather scraps with creativity and passion become unique pieces of self-produced design.
These are resources which, when pressed, become watches, pocket emptiers, seats.
The company therefore has a high environmental and innovative value, as the problem of waste must involve every citizen.
The small colored piece of leather that is generally considered useless and thrown away, manipulated by my hands, becomes a jewel to wear or a key ring.
With soft and precious leather, otherwise unused because of small dimensions, I design and produce cradle shoes, hand painted, customizable according to the needs of mothers and babies.
Strips of leather are woven to make baskets and lamps are obtained from the laser cut results of leather butts.
A change of perspective is needed: to design according to the criteria of eco-design
and the principles of sustainable design.
