Tignanello is produced exclusively from the vineyard of the same name, located at Tenuta Tignanello on a 77-hectare southwest-facing plot of limestone with tuff elements, at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level.
It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barrique, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties, such as Cabernet, and among the first red wines in Chianti not to use white grapes.
2022 - The excellent weather conditions of the autumn months ensured a harvest of excellent quality.
The Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc were harvested around mid-September, and the Cabernet Sauvignon in the first week of October.
Aging: 14 months in new and used French and Hungarian oak barriques. Contains sulfites.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red in color with purple highlights,
Tignanello 2022 strikes the nose with notes of cherry, ripe black cherry, and pomegranate seeds. These, combined with delicate hints of violet, lead to fresh balsamic sensations. Elegant hints of vanilla and cotton candy complete the bouquet.
On the palate, sweet and savory tannins lend dynamism to the wine, alternating between density and freshness that culminates in a long finish, echoing the notes perceived on the nose.
Pairings: Risotto with meat sauce, stewed red meat, roast and grilled meat, game, and mature cheeses.
