Montelupone Artichokes in Oil
The Montelupone artichoke is one of the Marche region's agricultural gems, traditionally grown in the small village of Montelupone. It prefers moist soil, and the inflorescences are harvested as they mature from April to June. It has a characteristic, slightly bitter flavor and dark purple bracts.
This artichoke is prized for its sweet, delicate flavor.
Ingredients: 75% Montelupone artichokes (Slow Food Presidium), 23% extra virgin olive oil, iodized sea salt, white wine vinegar. Gluten-free, contains no preservatives or additives, and is produced using methods that respect the seasonality and origin of the ingredients.
Serving suggestions: As an appetizer: ready to serve and to accompany traditional cured meats and cheeses or steamed fresh fish. As a condiment: to enhance rice salads and cold pasta dishes. For topping pizza, crostini, and bruschetta.
