Passito Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Scacciadiavoli
This sweet wine has a unique style.
It is thanks to the drying of Sagrantino grapes on racks that such concentration is achieved.
Montefalco Sagrantino Passito DOCG is suitable for long aging: 20 years or more. The presence of sediment at the bottom of the bottle is natural.
Harvest: mid to late September
Drying on racks in the open air until mid-December
Vinification: in stainless steel tanks
Aging: in barriques for at least 18 months
Very intense ruby red color with violet reflections, almost impenetrable with subtle garnet tones
Aroma: broad, persistent, sweet fruity with notes of ripe blackberries, morello cherries, and fresh fruit. Sweet spicy notes with a mineral finish
Soft, sweet, ample, full-bodied, persistent, and velvety palate: dense, sweet tannins, acidity balanced with the structure, fat, and density of the wine. Long, persistent fruity finish with hints of red and black berries from the undergrowth, combined with intense and complex spicy notes.
A meditation wine; it pairs well with dry pastries and delicate cream cakes, jam tarts, and almond tozzetti. Chocolate.
Also excellent with spicy, mature, and blue cheeses.
“Fortezza” futuristica
Solida ed imponente come poche, la struttura appare quasi una fortezza, in parte interrata: nel retro, il dislivello del terreno permette a uve, uomini e mezzi di arrivare direttamente all’ultimo piano: qui avviene la vinificazione, che sfruttando la gravità, permette il passaggio naturale dei vini ai livelli inferiori, sede dell’affinamento.
