The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Doc Classico Superiore “La Staffa” is the perfect example of the concept of vibrancy so dear to Riccardo Baldi.
It is an expressive wine from the area where we are.
Production area: Contrada Castellaretta, Staffolo, Ancona. Medium altitude 400 mt. SLM
The Verdicchio “La Staffa” is a cuvée of the most vineyards, all in the Castellaretta district, which have different ageing and exhibition times; The oldest grape variety is from 1972, the youngest from 2010.
Vineyard: Aged up to around 8 years; It was built around 30 years ago, produced on average 8 tonnes/ton
Terrain: Clay/calcareous; important is the salt component, high presence of calcium carbonate in the soil, typical of the Castellaretta/Salmagina area
Vinification: manual maceration, soffice pressing, static decantation of the musts, fermentation with indigenous yeasts (spontaneous) in steel and cement, aging in cement vats per 3 months.
After fermentation and aging, the mass is assembled from 10/12 different containers which are the expression of each individual fermentation, each individual exhibition/soil. Organoleptic notes
Intense yellow paglierino color.
Scented picture painted with suggestions of white pulp fruit, flowers, fir and stone flakes, outlined with pleasant salty and vegetable splashes.
Nice progression up the palato, with the living freshness that unites with beautiful sadness in a finale of personality decision.
Artisan, organic, classic with a strong territorial identity.
A handmade wine from start to finish, always choosing the best way, without shortcuts, the only way to preserve the territory and release all its potential, different and evolving year after year.
