They call it "the Balcony of the Sibillini", and it is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The National Park of the Sibillini Mountains, of which it is part, is the background, but the view that can be enjoyed from San Ginesio, on clear days, extends from Monte Conero to Gran Sasso.
Walking through the streets of San Ginesio, every time the view is not interrupted by the mighty sandstone walls, what opens up to the view is an immense and marvelous panorama composed of a mosaic of woods and countryside, scattered with small rural settlements.
Today, from the top of the hill on which San Ginesio stands, we contemplate the beauty of the landscape, but for centuries, the strategic position of this village has determined its supremacy on the surrounding lands: the lands of San Ginesio precisely.
Terre di San Ginesio today is a winery that, deeply linked to San Ginesio and its history, has recovered the oenological tradition of this territory by enclosing it in a wine, the San Ginesio DOC, which comes from the vines of Vernaccia nera that grow on the hills around to the village.
We will cross the walls of this castle, still intact after 700 years, and we will discover a bit of its history, sometimes mysterious and intertwined with that of the Templars, and its art, admiring the Collegiate, a real jewel that dominates the main square, then finally we will go to the winery to taste, in addition to a more classic production, the San Ginesio DOC, both in still and sparkling version, cooked wine and sapa, enjoying their perfect match with the typical products of local gastronomy.
