San Leonardo Dolomiti Rosso IGT, the iconic wine of Tenuta San Lorenzo, is rooted in its thousand-year history.
A legendary wine, among the most famous and awarded Italian reds, San Leonardo represents the magical result of a tradition known worldwide as the "Bordeaux blend." A symbiosis of dream and tradition, it is a wine capable of uniquely conveying the character and charm of the terroir in which it originates.
Vinification: Spontaneous fermentation in small cement tanks for approximately 12-15 days with numerous daily pumping overs and délestage. Aged for 24 months, 70% in barriques and 30% in medium-toasted French oak tonneaux (first, second, and third passage), followed by final blending.
The wine is then bottled and aged for at least 24 months in our cellars. Aging potential: 30 years and more.
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red color with garnet highlights.
A seductively complex nose, it opens with hints of berries, continuing with balsamic notes, undergrowth, tobacco, and aromatic herbs.
Lively and elegant on the palate, it displays a perfect balance between flavor and aroma, refined tannins, great balance, and depth. The finish is remarkably persistent.
